Bala Mandir Vidyalaya Nursery & Primary School
KG children are extensively taught using the Montessori system. We have integrated the best practices of classroom teaching and the Montessori system to arrive at our own proprietary methodology which is unique to Vidyalaya. An age-appropriate, activity and need-based curriculum, is followed in accordance with the interests and abilities of every child.
The curriculum is also holistic aiding growth and development in all domains of development.
Children are taught alphabets, sounds and phonetics, numbers, grace and courtesy in the Montessori environment. Stories, rhymes, activities and craft work, games and PT associated with the different domains of development are taught in the Mainstream environment.
Teachers are trained in LTP (Learning through Play), a concept developed at Bala Mandir to follow the child’s development continuously and record it every six months.
Every educator/teacher at Bala Mandir absorbs these methodologies and executes them meticulously.
Both the primary and high schools have developed our own pedagogy based on the Tamil Nadu State Board Syllabus. Our teachers extensively use videos, audios, group activities for teaching. Our emphasis is on learning outcomes and not on completing portions. Every classroom is provided with a TV to show videos. Term end goals are further divided into monthly goals for each and every class and subject. Month-end tests are administered to assess progress before we go to next set of topics.
Computer Education – Both the schools have well equipped computer labs and computer education starts from class 3.
In Vidyalaya, students have access to computer during their Computer Science period and they have a terminal assessment to evaluate their learning.
The Computer Lab at Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School is a dynamic space where students engage in hands-on learning and gain practical experience in digital literacy. Equipped with computer systems, internet connections, and audio-visual tools, the lab encourages exploration of concepts through practical activities. Digital Literacy is a part of time-table and every student gets access to the computer system. Additionally, it supports higher secondary students during computer application practicals, preparing them for real-world challenges.
Math lab in Vidyalaya is provided with a flat panel display TV and all essential lab equipment for students. Concepts are taught through activities in the Math lab in a very impressive way.
Vidyalaya has a well-equipped Library with 2000 books covering fairy tales, comics, moral stories, fiction and general knowledge. The librarian distributes the books to interested students during weekends.
The Library at Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School is a haven for curious minds. With elegant chairs and versatile tables in a spacious room, it invites students to explore a treasure trove of books. As part of their timetable, every student enjoys a dedicated library period. Through engaging activities, they delve into literature, research, and creativity. Additionally, the library boasts a smart TV with Wi-Fi connectivity, enhancing the learning experience.
Both schools strongly believe in holistic education and many extra-curricular activities are offered. The schools work on Saturdays also to provide adequate time for academics and co-curricular activities. Many other not for profit organizations and service oriented individuals work with us for the benefit of the students
The Science Lab at Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School is a vibrant hub where students dive into hands-on learning and gain practical experience in science. Through engaging activities, they explore scientific concepts, conduct experiments, and observe phenomena firsthand. As part of the Eco Club, students actively maintain a Herbal Garden within the school premises. This garden serves as a living classroom where students learn about native plants, their medicinal properties, and sustainable gardening practices. Through hands-on activities, they cultivate herbs, observe their growth cycles, and appreciate the importance of biodiversity. The Herbal Garden not only enhances environmental awareness but also contributes to the well-being of the school community.
Art and Craft is vital for education as it cultivates creativity and critical thinking. Additionally it fosters cultural appreciation and interdisciplinary learning. Art and Craft classes begin from LKG.
Music and dance improve social skills and provide opportunities for self expression. Through music and dance we impart values, teach about leaders in various field and rich Indian culture.
Yoga promotes physical fitness, mental clarity and emotional well-being. Breathing exercises and meditation improve concentration of students. Volunteers from Sky yoga teach students of classes 3 to 5. Their practice is based on simplified Kundalini yoga which comprises of physical exercises and meditation.
Sports and Games
Vidyalaya has a vast playground where students have their P.E.T classes and football coaching. Indoor games like carrom and chess are also taught.
The Decathlon Play program provides weekly sports coaching to our students. From football, khokho, kabaddi to throwball, students explore diverse sports. Coaches offer expert guidance, fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.
Cubs and Bulbuls
Mr. Praveen & Ms. Nandhini from Vidyalaya attended Cubs & Bulbuls and Bunnies training organized by the Government in January 2024. These clubs will function from the forthcoming academic year.
The Scouts and Guides program at our school offers students in grades 6, 7, and 8 a unique opportunity for growth, learning, and adventure. Through outdoor activities, leadership training, and value-based education, students build confidence, develop essential life skills, and cultivate a love for the outdoors. Our Scouts and Guides unit contributes to the holistic development of each student, preparing them for adulthood.
The Road Safety Patrol (RSP) program is a vital initiative for our grade 9 students. Through RSP, students gain road safety knowledge and develop leadership qualities. Additionally, our dedicated RSP students assist the public and younger students in safely crossing the road during busy morning hours before and after school.
Just For Kicks is a program conducted by Enabling Leadership, a not-for-profit organization. They teach football from class four to both boys and girls. Their volunteers teach values and discipline along with football. When boys and girls play together they develop respect for the other gender. Girls also gain lot of self-confidence. Our students have participated in inter school tournaments and won several prizes
Happy Reading
Students of classes III to V are offered the ‘Happy Reading’ Program in which the reading material is provided by the Happy Reading team and the volunteers guide the students to read and comprehend. This program helps the students to improve their reading skills.
Boeing Vikalpa Lab -Fostering Innovation at Bala Mandir Satyamurthi School
The Boeing Vikalpa Lab, generously supported by Boeing Company, is a hub of creativity and exploration. Within its walls, students engage with cutting-edge technologies, experiment, and learn through hands-on experiences. This dynamic space encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for science and technology.
Inclusion Program is a unique offering from Vidyalaya. Inclusive education aims to create an environment where all students, regardless of their abilities feel valued, respected and supported. We admit few students with minor learning disabilities in each section of the primary school. We have tied up with KaRe, an organization which specializes in teaching children with learning disabilities. These children are offered speech therapy, Occupational therapy and special education on need basis through qualified therapists and special educators. Students with special needs will be facilitated and guided by shadow teachers.
Behavior modification will be done to students with behavioral issues so that they also easily socialize with the other students of the class. It helps students to eventually get included in the normal classroom environment.
Value Education
Value education and its significance in shaping individuals’ character, behavior, and societal contributions. Today education is not confined to the text book and classrooms. Activities and events taking place in everyday life also counts. Here value education plays a role.
It helps in making the right decisions, over all character and personality development.
In our school Value education is included in curriculum. Value education classes will be conducted every week for all the classes.
Language development
Language plays an important role in academic success, career advancement and social integration. Keeping this key value in mind our school launched a language development program for the student. Weekend classes are conducted by a volunteer from Boeing organization. In this program the students are trained on activity-based learning method.
Incorporation of Technology – enhanced learning tools and resources are used to engage learners. Overview of assessment methods and tools are used to measure student’s language and proficiency and progress.
Empowerment program in Bala Mandir Sathyamurti school was launched with the intention of empowerment in fostering students’ confidence, resilience and success. Specific objectives are aligned with social- emotional learning competencies, character education and career readiness
Identification of core components of empowerment, such as self – awareness, self -confidence, goal setting, problem solving, communication skill and resilience. Exploration of topics related to identity, diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.
Empowerment program team conduct classes every week for students in VI to VIII for both boys and girls separately. Plans for monitoring program implementation and evaluation its impact on student’s empowerment outcome have done by the trained professionals. Various cultural programs have been organized by the team to showcase the students’ talent.
Students’ Counselling
Counselling team is the part of Bala Mandir Satyamurti School. As the school knows the importance of counselling service for the children. The team plays the vital role in supporting students’ emotional, social and academic well- being. The primary goals of students’ counselling team include providing emotional support, promoting positive mental health, enhancing interpersonal skill and improving academic performance. Its specific objectives aligned with addressing students’ individual needs and concerns.
School counselling team consist of counselors, psychologists, social workers and professionals in delivering counselling services.
Carrier Guidance Program
Bala Mandir Sathyamurthy school conducts various carrier guidance program for high and higher secondary students with the intention of helping students make decision about their future path. The overarching goals of the program, include helping students explore career options, develop career- related skills and plan for their future.
Usually, carrier guidance program with be conducted by the academic counselors, but our school invites various professionals from different fields to address the students through carrier guidance program. So, students are able to interact with them and able to plan for their post- secondary education including college admissions guidance, financial aid planning and resume writing
