80th Independence day of India was celebrated in our school today.
MS Manimegalai Former Head-Misters, Satyamurthi Hr Sec School hoisted the National Flag.Students presented a patriotic song and a speech on Independence day.
ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
The Annual Sports Day of Bala Mandir schools was celebrated on 25th July, 2026.
Sr.Prof.DR.S.SEKHAR Senior yoga philosopher, Educator, Researcher was the Chief Guest. He hoisted the Sports flag and declared the Sports day open. The students honoured the Chief guest with a March past. The events included Fan dance, Maypole Yoga which are a part of our after school activities. Lucky corner game was conducted for parents. The Chief Guest distributed the Prizes for students, staff and parents and gave a motivating speech. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
COLOUR’S WEEK
From 20th July to 31st July 2025, our KG children joyfully celebrated Colour’s Week and Flowers Day. Children came dressed in clothes of the same colour each day, which helped them recognize, identify, and connect with that colour.
The celebrations were filled with excitement as children enjoyed the array of different flowers , where they observed and learned about the flowers, their colours and beauty.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY
Investiture Ceremony for Members of the Student council of Vidyalaya was held on 13th July. Mr M Venkataraman, Secretary of Vidyalaya and Ms Preethi, Member in charge honoured the student leaders with a sash and badge.
Education Day
In connection with Education day, the birthday of our former Chief Minister Shri K Kamarajar, Many Competitions were held on the topic – Kamarajar and his Contemporary Leaders of Kamarajar for primary Classes Certificates were distributed to the Prize winners in the school assembly.
On 15th July Education day was celebrated in which students of the Vidyalaya presented a Villupattu on the life and achievements of Kamarajar.
Student Council election
Student Council election was conducted in Vidyalaya on 22nd June. The voting process was explained to children the previous week. The process started with the campaign of candidates. Students of classes 3 to 5 were excited to take part in the voting. The council members were elected and their names were announced in the school assembly.
Eye Camp
An Eye Camp was conducted in Vidyalaya for Primary section by Dr.Agarwal’s Eye Hospital on 19th June, 2026. A team of doctors visited the camp and listed the students who were diagnosed with issues in vision.
These students were advised and guided for a follow up consultation in Agarwal’s Eye hospital.
International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day was celebrated in Vidyalaya on 20th June, 2026. Mr Saravanan and Ms Malarvizhi, instructors from Sky Yoga, guided the students of Classes 3 to 5 to practice Pranayama and perform asanas in the Yoga hall. Children found it refreshing.
BALU SIR STORY TELLING DAY
To commemorate the birthday of Balu Sir, a story telling session was conducted in Vidyalaya on 6th June, 2026. Ms Ambujavalli, a Eminent story teller, narrated stories to the children of Primary classes. They were very much engrossed and excited to listen to the stories which she narrated in a very interesting and expressive way. The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the programme.
REOPENING DAY
A warm welcome to our little ones on the reopening day. The school reopened on 4th June for Primary and Kinder Garten classes .
Bala Mandir School Building Inauguration:
Bala Mandir school inaugurated its School Expansion and Modernization project at Satyamurthi Higher Secondary School on 25th March. Guests included Ms. Praveena Yaghnabhat, CSR-Head, Boeing India & South East Asia, Ms. Shalini Grover, CFO, Boeing-India, K.G. Venkatraman, Chief Financial Officer, Saint-Gobain India Private Limited, and Ms. Maya Gaitonde, Honorary General Secretary, Bala Mandir Kamraj Trust. The guests inaugurated the building, unveiled a plaque acknowledging project supporters, and lit the Kuthuvilaku, followed by a tour of the new building. A film was showcased showing the school’s facilities, vision, and the path of the expansion project.
High School Students’ Visit to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026:
A group of students from our High School had a thrilling experience at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, held at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Over two days, the
students engaged in memorable activities that deepened their understanding of international
cricket.
On February 7, 2026, the students met with New Zealand cricketers, interacting with them
and learning about their experiences. Later, on February 15, 2026, they attended the match
between USA and Namibia, witnessing world-class cricket live and gaining insights into
sportsmanship. The students were thrilled to watch the match and cherish their interactions
with the players, which included sharing experiences, answering questions, and taking
photos. This experience is expected to inspire them to develop a deeper appreciation for the
game.
SECMINDSPARK COMPETITION
The students of the Boeing Sukanya Lab participated in the SECMINDSPARK Competition held at Saveetha Engineering College on Feb-21st. A team of four Class-9 students represented the school by presenting their project titled “Vision Care for Kids.”
The project focuses on early detection and awareness of vision-related issues among children. It highlights the importance of regular eye screening and introduces a smart, technology-supported approach to assist in identifying potential vision problems at an early stage. The students clearly explained the problem statement, the scientific concept behind the model, its working mechanism, and its real-world application in schools and communities. The judges appreciated the relevance of the project, especially its social impact in supporting children’s health and learning outcomes.
Farewell & Pooja
On February 14th, a farewell ceremony was held for the students of Class 10 and 12, featuring a special puja with an Arya Samaj homam. Notably, the students’ Hall tickets for the upcoming board exams were incorporated into the ceremony, adding to its significance and conveying best wishes for their success.
Science Fair:
The High School celebrated National Science Day on February 28th with great enthusiasm, hosting a Science Fair, “Hydro Explorations”. This event was centered around this year’s theme, “Water”, where students showcased a range of innovative projects and science concepts. The students also leveraged the facilities at the Boeing Sukanya STEM lab to develop and display various projects, highlighting their creativity and technical skills. The Chief Guest, Ms. Maria Reena, Principal of Vidyodaya Hr.Sec School, graced the occasion, adding to the event’s significance.
Students’ one-day trip
Students of Classes 3 to 5 went on a field trip to the Egmore museum on 26.3.2026.
They were excited to see the Bronze gallery, a display of numismatic items, stone sculptures and palm leaves with inscriptions. The costumes unique to different countries were also exhibited. Children were thrilled to see the artwork of eminent artists like Ravi Verma, Leonardo da Vinci and Piccaso. The day was not only filled with happiness and excitement but also allowed them to explore new things.
Students of Classes 1 & 2 visited Guindy National Park. They watched different varieties of Snakes, crocodiles, birds, turtles and monkeys.
They were also excited to watch a 3D show on wild animals. It was a day full of joy, excitement and learning for all.
LIBAZAAR Competition
HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME – Her O2
ALVEO 4P CHARITABLE TRUST conducted a Health Awareness Program for all women staff Bala Mandir schools and a few girl students from the Higher secondary level on 31st January, 2026. The programme focussed on the 4P model — Preventive, Predictive, Personalized, and Participative care. Dr Krishnaveni & Dr Saranya addressed the participants on health care and the impact of stress and food habits on our health. The session was very interactive and insightful.

EYE CAMP SCREENING
The second round of screening for shortlisted students of Classes I to V was conducted in the Vidyalaya on 27th January 2025.
The camp was jointly organized by Mylapore Roundtable 3 and Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle 4. During the program, trained eye specialists carried out detailed vision screening for the students. Spectacles were provided to those in need, ensuring that every child received timely support for better vision
REPUBLIC DAY
The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Bala Mandir schools. The Chief Guest Mr. Sriram, Member, Tamil Nadu Brahmin association, unfurled the National Flag and addressed the gathering.
PONGAL CELEBRATION
KG section celebrated Pongal on 13.1.26 . Children came to school in colourful attire and the classrooms were decorated with real objects to create a festive mood. Teachers explained the importance of each day of Pongal to children. Hand printing activity on Pongal pot was done by children of KG classes. Pongal was distributed to all children and staff. It was really an exciting and enjoyable day for children.
A special assembly was held for Primary classes. Students of class 2 presented a song on Pongal. Rohith and Manigandan of class 5 gave a dialogue presentation on the heritage games and martial arts unique to Tamil Nadu. Ms Nithya Bharati, Primary teacher briefed the students about the significance of Bhogi, Pongl, Maatu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.
RKM INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION
Ramakrishna Mission organized an Inter-School Competition on 6th and 7th January 2025 for students of Classes I to V. Around 16 students from Vidyalaya participated in various events including Drawing, Colouring, Speech, reciting Quotes of Swami Vivekananda and Fancy Dress. Master Arshavardhan of Class II-B secured the Third Prize in the Drawing Competition.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on 12th January 2025, celebrated as National Youth Day.
OPEN DAY
Term II Open day for the Primary section was held on 10th January where parents had an opportunity to interact with teachers and get inputs for the progress of their children.
Thamizhar Paranbariya kalaivizha:
Thamizh Parambariya Kalaivizha was held on January 10th, celebrating Pongal festival traditions. Students showcased displays on traditional rice varieties, herbs, sports, books, and more in classrooms. The afternoon featured performances in the cultural hall, including a Bharathiyar song, dance, roleplay, and silambam display.
Five neighboring schools participated in interschool competitions, including Thirukural recitation, essay writing, dramatization, spell bee, and quiz. Dr. Kanaga Lakshmi, an inspiring teacher who attempted a world record in Tamil, was the chief guest. She praised the school and students for their efforts and delivered an inspiring speech.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
Children of the KG section filled the air with a festive mood as they were dressed as Angels and Mother Mary. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ was shown to the kids and carols were sung. Children were asked to colour a X-mas tree which they enjoyed the most.
Students of the Primary section were shown a video on the story of Jesus Christ. They were also asked to share their thoughts on the Joy of giving week.
POCSO AWARENESS PROGRAM
Ms Amudavalli , Sub Inspector from W24 All Women Police station ,Teynampet addressed the students of class 4 and 5 on POCSO awareness. A video on the topic was shown to the students. MS Amudavalli and Ms.Nandhini (PC).interacted with the students after playing the video. They also answered the questions raised by students and clarified their doubts.
JOY OF GIVING WEEK
For the second consecutive year, Vidyalaya celebrated ‘Joy of Giving’ week from 15th December to 22nd December, 2025. The main objective of this initiative is to instill the value of kindness, sharing and empathy in children. Teachers briefed the students on the importance of kindness, empathy and the joy we get when we share with others.
We also communicated to the parents that the attitude to share is more important than the quantity given. So, even a small quantity donated by them will be of great help to the needy. We collected grocery, stationery and toys. We insisted that only children should drop the things in the respective boxes. Though we gave a very short notice to parents, there was an amazing response from them. Within three days, the boxes were overflowing with stationery and grocery items. We interacted with our students and told them to share their feedback. They said they were extremely happy and proud to share whatever they could with others. The proceeds were handed over to Ms Lovena, ex- Kare staff, to be distributed to the families of migrant workers.
CHILDREN’S DAY COMPETITION
Children’s day competition was held in Vidyalaya on 2nd week of November. In connection with Children’s day, competitions were conducted for classes LKG to V. Children participated with a lot of enthusiasm in all the competitions. They exhibited their talents in drawing & colouring, handwriting and Tirukkural recitation. There was an amazing performance by children of classes 1 & 2 in coining words from the given alphabets. Spell bee and Picture quiz were very much enjoyable and challenging to students of classes 3 to 5. It gave them an opportunity to use their creativity and thinking skills. On 14th November, Children’ s Day special assembly was conducted. Teachers entertained the students with a poem and dance. Our Secretary, Mr M Venkataraman and MIC Ms Preethi, gave away the prizes to all the Prize winners.
EYE CAMP
An Eye Camp was held in Vidyalaya on 10th November, 2025. The camp was organized by Mylapore Roundtable 3 and Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle 4 for students of Classes I to V.
During the camp, trained eye specialists conducted detailed vision screening for the students and provided guidance on eye health, early detection of vision issues, and the importance of regular check-up. Students requiring further consultation were advised for follow-up.
CHILDREN’S DAY INTER-SCHOOL COMPETITION
96 students from 7 schools participated in the inter-school talent contest held on 05.11.2025. Drawing, colouring, story-telling, Thirukkural recitation and spell bee competitions were held and prizes were awarded to the winners. The team from Anjuman Primary School (T. Nagar) bagged the Overall Winners Trophy.
BHAGAVAD GITA CHANTING COMPETITION
11 students from Bala Mandir Vidyalaya participated in the Bhagavad Gita chanting competition organised by Chinmaya mission on 28.9.2025.
Harini, Kavin Krishnan and Sharmila from UKG received the Motivational Prizes and Ms Sandeep Sana of Class V won the Third Prize. Certificates and medals were given to the participants and Prize winners in the school assembly on 9.10.2025.
LUNAR ECLIPSE
A session on the Lunar eclipse was held for children of classes 3, 4 & 5. They were excited to see the total phase of the blood moon during the eclipse. It was an extended learning for the students and they came up with many questions about the total Lunar eclipse.
MEDICAL CAMP
A medical camp was conducted for students of the Primary section by the Rotary Club of Madras, Elite on 28th August,2025. The camp covered eye test, dental and general health checkups for all students.
ANNUAL DAY
The annual day of Bala Mandir schools was held in the Bengal Association hall on 23rd August, 2025. Ms Praveena, Chief of Staff & CSR Leader, Boeing , South Asia, was the Chief Guest.
The theme for this year was ‘Technology – a Boon or Bane’. Students of both schools presented colourful dances based on the theme and a thoughtful skit with a meaningful message to the student community on the judicious use of technology.
Students of the Kare team presented a lively dance on stage. The events were very much enjoyed and appreciated by the audience.
The Chief Guest distributed the prizes to the students for excellence in conduct, academics and attendance. The ‘Best teacher’ award was given to Ms Subasri of Vidyalaya. The Secretary, Mr P Natarajan, presented the Bala Mandir key to the Chief Guest, who gave a motivating speech, also appreciating the efforts of Bala Mandir.

On the occasion of Vinayaka chaturthi, KG children made idols of Ganesha using clay, sang songs and coloured pictures of Lord Ganesha
GOKULASHTAMI
On the occasion of Gokulashtami, students of Kinder Garten were dressed up like Krishna and Radha. Students of Primary and UKG chanted verses from Bhagavad Gita.

Road Safety Patrol (RSP) Inauguration & Investiture Ceremony
On July 19th, Saturday, the SMHS school in Vikalpa lab hosted the inauguration of its Road Safety Patrol (RSP) program. The event was graced by Mr. Madana Gopal, Sub-Inspector of Teynampet, who emphasized the significance of road safety to the students. During the ceremony, he congratulated the new batch of Class 9 students who were inducted into the RSP wing and awarded them, highlighting the importance of their roles in promoting safe road practices within their community.
Mr. Madana Gopal presented them with sashes and badges, formally investing them with their new roles and responsibilities. The students then took their oath, pledging to uphold their duties and lead their peers with integrity and dedication.
Education Day
In connection with Education day, the birthday of our former Chief Minister Shri K Kamaraj, drawing and colouring competition and a quiz on the life history and achievements of Kamarajar was held in Vidyalaya. Certificates were given for the Prize winners in the school assembly.
On 15th July, the birthday of Shri Kamarajar, students of Vidyalaya presented a Villu pattu on the life and achievements of Kamarajar. Two students of class 5 gave a dialogue presentation about the King Maker.
Student Council Election
The Student Council election was held in Vidyalaya on 8th July. Students of classes 4 & 5 were involved in the process.
Teachers explained the process of election to students one day prior to the voting. They were excited to participate in the voting process.
The names of winners were announced in the assembly.
VISIT BY STUDENTS FROM SOCIAL WORK SCHOOL – ITE SINGAPORE
20 students and 2 coordinators from Social Work School – ITE Singapore, visited Vidyalaya on 26th and 27th June.
They interacted with Vidyalaya students, played games and observed classes. They were excited to see the activity based teaching sessions. It was totally a different and enjoyable experience for the visitors and students.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
International Yoga day was celebrated in Bala Mandir Vidyalaya Nursery and Primary School today. Children performed Yoga asanas under the guidance of Ms Malarvizhi and Mr Saravanan from Sky Yoga. Ms Malarvizhi briefed the students on the importance of Yoga to maintain physical and mental fitness.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION AT SATYAMURTHI SCHOOL
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the students of Satyamurthi School showcased their yoga skills in the school’s cultural hall along with Mr. Saravanan from Sky Yoga centre. The event featured a yoga display by the students, highlighting the importance and benefits of this ancient practice.
During the event, Padmashree, a class 9 student, delivered a speech about International Yoga Day, raising awareness about its significance and promoting the adoption of yoga in daily life.
INDIA MATH AND SCIENCE TALENT EXAMINATION 2024-25
Thirteen students from Satyamurthi School participated in the All India Math and Science Talent Examination 2024-25, and all received certificates of appreciation. Notably, Kusham, a Class 6 student, excelled in the exam, ranking 9th among over 10,000 Class 6 students nationwide. She was one of only 7 students from Chennai schools to secure a spot in the ranking list and received a medal, certificate, and a set of books, along with eligibility to participate in the next year’s exam for Class 7.
BALU SIR STORY TELLING DAY
Balu Sir Story telling day was celebrated on 14th June, 2025. Ms Ambujavalli , renowned story teller, entertained the children of Primary classes by narrating stories in a very interesting and expressive way. The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the programme.
WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR
On 12th June, which is observed as World Day against Child Labour , a special assembly was held. Students of class II A presented a skit highlighting the theme. Ms Santhi , Primary teacher ,briefed the children about Child Labour and the need to work against it.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’, students of class V-B presented a special assembly. Manikandan of class V, gave a thought provoking speech on the need to protect our environment and make it a plastic free zone.

GRADUATION DAY
Graduation day for UKG and Class 5 was held on 5th April, in Bala Mandir Cultural centre. Ms Jasmine Michael, Principal, Anjuman Primary School was the Chief Guest.
Students and teachers of UKG brought on stage, the daily routine they have at school, which impressed the audience. Rohit of class 4, presented the graduation day address.
The Chief guest gave a motivating speech and distributed the certificates for the students.
